  • ORIGINAL SPIRIT
    Bob Iris & Tucker Livingston
Dr. Livingston, I Presume Music (BMI)

She lives down South where the River's age
Goes back to the Original Spirit
And the India ink's flowing over the page
    Down to the Original Spirit
And the Rhythm of Life is still young
    And she is one among
    The Original Spirits

Every morning she walks out to the holy ground
Where the ancient music is playing
And she begins to sing as the rain falls down
Like a thousand Voices are praying
And then the clouds are all gone
    And the light shines on
    In her Original Spirit

And I need to know that I am part of that Original Spirit
Where my aim is true and I ride the "Royal Road"
Yes, I know the Truth when I hear it
    In Its Original Spirit

So take me down South where the River's age
Goes back to the Original Spirit
Where the India ink's flowing over the page
    Down to the Original Spirit
And the rhythm of life is still young
And we are all at One
    With the Original Spirit…

    MAHATMA GANDHI & SITTING BULL
    Bob Livingston/Bobby Bridger
Dr. Livingston, I Presume Music (BMI)/White Coyote (ASCAP)

    Mahatma Gandhi and Sitting Bull
Were lyin' in the sun around the swimming pool
Talkin' about breakin' al the rules
    And listenin' to the radio

The Mahatma winked and he flashed a grin
He said, "The Wild East is where I've been
You've seen it once you gotta see it again
You gotta see the Himalayan snows!"

    Sitting Bull said "Gandhi-ji,
It's the Great Plains for me
    Chasin' buffalo and living free
And watchin' all my children grow."

    Gandhi pulled his weaver's thread
Spun some yarn and then he said,
"There's no need for the Tibetan Book of the Dead
To know which way the Spirit goes."

West is East and East is West
We're only one planet and that's the test
We're just passin' through, we got no address
    Awakening what we don't know

    Sitting Bull and Gandhi too
They share a pipe with me and you
They both knew how to break the rules
    And listen to river flow…

    ON A DREAM WITH YOU
    Bob Livingston
Dr. Livingston, I Presume Music (BMI)

(The love that you give is love you never lose
It comes back to you in creams come true…)

    On a dream with you
Life is simple and movin' slow
Like holdin' hands to the radio
There's no other place we want to go

    On a dream with you
We're in love and holdin' tight
Now there is nothing we need sacrifice
    After all those lonesome nights

    On a dream with you
In a villa in New Mexico
Wearin' your boots with your evening clothes
And the band's playin' Soul Creole
    On a dream with you
Sunset comes and we fade away
In the refuge between night and day
    I'll dream with you…

    On a dream with you
All you have to do is hold my hand
To rescue me from shiftin' sands
    There's nobody else that understands

    On a dream with you
    Indian ponies and western skies
    Wildflowers and coyote cries
Are all in the magic of your brown eyes

    On a dream with you
    You're a cowgirl in a rodeo
Ridin' bareback on chasin' down rainbows
And I'm a cowboy that you want to know
    On a dream with you
Sunset comes and we fade away
In the refuge between night and day
    I'll dream with you…

    TAKE ADVANTAGE OF YOUR CHANCES
    Bob Livingston
Dr. Livingston, I Presume Music (BMI)

St. Peter holds the ticket to the Pearly Gates
But he won it in a raffle Game
If it wasn't for another twist of Fate
St. Judas could have done the same
And have an equally famous name

    (chorus)
There's been a whole lot a shakin' goin' on out there
    Ever since the world began
But if you don't take advantage of your chances son
Your chances may never come again

My granddaddy ran down a ramblin' road
Baseball and a bar room band
WWI came to get his goat
He ran off to take a patriotic stand
He sang tenor in the national Band
    He lent a hand

    Chorus

So do something smart that's the wisest thing to do
When you really feel helpless and dumb
There's enough dummies runnin' round these days
But they'll vanish when the kingdom comes
They'll be gone where there's work to be done

Chicken in the bread pan pickin' up dough

    I BELIEVE IT!
    Bob Livingston & Reade Wood
Dr. Livingston, I Presume Music (BMI)

People trust only what they see
But they don't have it right
    Something's higher there for me
When your eyes fill up with Light
Upon a time once long ago
When this old world was new
    Everything had an inner glow
And with wings the mountain flew

    (chorus)
And I believe it, yes it really must be true
I believe it 'cause it was told by You

You told me once that when heroes die
    They like to smoke cigars
And when they light 'em in the sky
It's what we call the stars
    Diamonds grow on the bushes
    And crocodiles love to sing
We get answers to our wishes
And monkeys tell their troubles to the King

    Chorus
You've put magic in the day and given faith to me
The Truth shines in every word You say
And what You wish will Be

So let me follow You when You go
To the land where legends live
All is Real and there's no show
And no one takes but gives

    COWBOYS & INDIANS
    Bob Livingston/Bobby Bridger
Dr. Livingston, I Presume Music (BMI)/White Coyote (ASCAP)

Some COWBOYS & INDIANS were ridin' cross the sands
Of a blood red painted desert…lone equestrians
Sometimes red is black and black is white
Mortal colors vanish from your sight
But not the COWBOYS & INDIANS

Visionary drifters on a timeless caravan
Stickin' close together when things get out of hand
    Sharing in an unspoken word
That each and every one of us had heard
    The COWBOYS & INDIANS

    (chorus)
Sacred almost holy, they were here before me
    And carry on…
Through the lost horizon, went into disguise
    And carried on…

Never without focus, always on a Sacred Trail
And it's absolutely guaranteed their steps will never fail
Oh the Wheel is turning even standing still
And the wisest men know never to reveal
    The COWBOYS & INDIANS
    The COWBOYS & INDIANS!
AND THEY ARE COWBOYS & INDIANS!

    LOVE CANNOT BE BROKEN
    Bob & Trevor Livingston
Dr. Livingston, I Presume Music (BMI)

    Love cannot be broken
It took a little boy to tell me that not so long ago
And through the eyes of children
There's Something that they can teach us
    Something we're all searching for
    Yet already know

    Love cannot be broken
And love is the only Hope there is for this broken world
It's Something that can't be spoken
    Something steadfast not hollow
So The Good can flourish in these troubled times

    Love cannot be broken
Love is a line through space and time going straight and True

    RAINING FOR SO LONG
    Steve Martinec
Benefit of the Doubt Music (ASCAP)

It's been raining for so long
I can't remember what it's like to feel the sun and
Everybody's walking with his head down
It's been raining for so long

Last night I was hoping for a nice tomorrow
I was hoping for an early start
But in between the lightning and the thunder
    We may need another Ark

It's been raining for so long
Move over honey, there's no amount of money
Gonna stem that tide, looks like an overflow
It's been raining for so long

And the weather forecast says it's raining
    100% chance of more rain
And there's a tractor stuck in the middle of a field
The creek's crawlin' out of its banks
You know that kid's just wanting out of here
    It'll never stop raining
    That's what he thinks

It's been raining for so long
And the weatherman is crying when you turn that TV on
Hey daddy-o don't sweat it. It's not your fault
It's just been raining for so long

And it's seepin' deep (it's raining)
It's coming down in my sleep (Lord it's raining)
I tried to read a book, I thought I'd feel better
But here I sit just worryin' about the weather
It sounds to me just like a blue, blue song
It's been raining for so long

    THE PROPHET SAID
    Bob Livingston & Reade Wood
Dr. Livingston, I Presume Music (BMI)

    And the prophet said
    They'll be no one around
To see the look on his face
    When he walks into town.
    And he never looked back
    To the road behind.
He said, "I can see the future,
But I'll never understand your mind."

And there were signs from above,
Pointin' out the way to go
Signs from below that just said "No"

    And the Prophet said,
"Life's been drifting through the seams
    Since the green water's age
    In the Indian Dream
    What the future holds
    Oh, the Prophet Sees
On the dusty backs of your memories

    Yeah the Prophet came back
To get his two cents in
And if the truth be told he'll come back again, and again

'Cause they'll be signs from above,
Pointin' out the way to go
Signs from below that just said "No"

    WILDERNESS SONG
    Bob Livingston
Dr. Livingston, I Presume Music (BMI)

I was all alone in the Wilderness
Searchin' for Something that I had missed
Up to the highest through the bottomland
    I'll take my stand
Take my stand, take my stand
Reach up high and take my stand

I have no body to hold me down
I have no mind to spin around
Life is short and in not too long
    I'll sing my song
Sing my song, sing my song
It won't take long, till I sing my song

And with what Light do I see the sun?
The Light that shines in everyone
And there's no beginning to the Truth, my friend
    And there's no end
There is no end, there is no end
There's no beginning and there is no end

    WHEN THE BEAT WAS YOUNG
    Bob Livingston
Dr. Livingston, I Presume Music (BMI)

Ancient man beatin' on sticks and rocks
Sendin' out rhythm nearly 'round the clock
    Beat is infectious, bustin' loose
Tryin' to hold back just wasn't no use
All the cats around feelin' they got stung
Way back in history when the Beat was Young

Big Chief sez to sing and dance
Smoke peace pipe and make romance
Beat takes over, things get to jumpin'
Snatchin' somethin' from the jaws of nothin'
    Kickin' evolution up another rung
Way back in history when the Beat was Young

And when the Beat is Young
You got everything under the sun
    When the Beat is Young
We all come together as One
    When the Beat is Young

The beat is spread all around the world
And lives in the hearts of every boy and girl
Kickin' 'round the Beat can be really fun
And the Beat can make you work when there's work to be done
Even today when certain songs are sung
We thank God Almighty that the Beat is Young!

    COWBOYS & INDIANS RETURN
Music by Bob Livingston, lyrics by Edwin Markham, "A Creed"
Dr. Livingston, I Presume Music (BMI)

There is a destiny that makes us brothers
    None goes his way alone
And all that we send into the lives of others
    Comes back into our own

I care not what his temples of his creed
One thing that holds firm and fast
That into his fateful heap of days and deeds
The soul of man is cast
